It mostly works in Numbers for the iPad. (See below.)

Once you open the downloaded file, Save as a template. That way you'll always have a fresh copy available.

All the important stuff appears to work on the iPad. A couple of handy features are missing, though.

If after looking through the issues below you decide to download it, after tapping the download link, Be quick! Position your finger upper right beneath the tabs in Safari. The Open with Numbers option will flash for a couple of seconds then disappear. If you miss it, tap refresh. (If you know a better way to get that message back, do let me know :-))

Missing features that Numbers lets you know about when you open it. (Lighter are less important.)
  • Sheet settings, such as headers and footers, were removed.
  • Table categories were removed.
  • Hyperlinks on objects were removed.
  • Locked objects were unlocked. -- It can be tricky to zoom without grabbing and moving a table or text block. So place your fingers carefully.
  • Table fills were removed. -- Which turns all the tables white instead of light blue.
  • All comments were removed. - Well, crud.  Comments add clarification on some items that's helpful the first few times you use it. I screen captured the comments here (coming!). It's a kludge but better than nothing.
  • Filtering criteria on tables were removed. - That's a bit of a pain. The Story Structure table displays three different structures. A filter lets you see the structures one at a time, making it much easier to read. I've given each structure a slightly different text color that might make it easier to focus on one structure at a time. The Values List uses a filter to cut down on the 400+ values to look through. But the table can be sorted. (Tap on the gray bar above the column title.)

Missing features that Numbers doesn't let you know about:
  • Random numbers don't automatically regenerate. -- The Values List has a nice randomized list of values that regenerates when the page changes, like pressing the Delete key in a blank cell. Except on the iPad. Sometimes if you double tap on an item in the list then tap on the green check, it will regenerate. But not always.
(Oh, my, I really like the tabs for each sheet in Numbers for iPad. They're very pretty!)
